It may be warming up outside, but in here it has become almost unbearably cold. Is the air conditioning on? The place is huge. For a while I had to contend with the strong smell of bleach as they mopped various sections of the café. I got here quite early this morning, probably the first sit-down customer they had today, and I watched everyone getting the café ready for the breakfast "crowd," which has come and gone.
The tables are small, round with marbled tops. The metal ring around the edge of my table is loose, so I can spin it around if I so choose (I choose not to at the moment, though it is tempting). The ashtray, for the curious, is black plastic with an ambiguous horseshoe picture on it. The coffee cup is specific to the café, sporting a crown over the letters R.O. Oh beauteous day, they gave me sugar cubes with which to enjoy my espresso. Also on my table is my black ballpoint pen which abruptly ran out of ink a little while ago. The chairs have metal frames painted tan with plush maroon seat cushions sporting small dark polka dots. The floor is tiled in reddish marble with white veins. To my right is a dessert case with some rather odd-looking partially-consumed cakes and tarts. A disco column covered in small rectangular mirrors stands nearby and the main part of the café is lit by tall street-style lamps, each with four pink-shaded lights on top.
