It's cold outside but the sun shines in through the tall windows directly onto me, so I'm very warm. The ceiling above me is very high, and I can see a curved staircase up to a second floor dining area. A TV is set up on top of the café entrance -- the channel/show is MCM2, and music videos are playing, including nostalgic 80's hits from the Police, ZZ Top, Eurythmics, and Genesis. There are some newer videos as well from bands like Indochine and Aerosmith. I must say music videos are not good for my writing, since it's rather difficult for me to look up at them and write at the same time.
With my espresso I got a packet of sugar cubes and a pre-packaged chocolate almond -- it's called a "truffine." The table I'm at is large enough for four people, and the top has diagonal pink pinstripes across its primarily black surface. A Heineken ashtray sits on the corner opposite me.
The lights have red metal triangular sides with rows of large and small holes shot through them. The window edges are red as well, and the staircase. The square maroon column that stretches up two stories in the middle of the place is covered with geometric designs, and about eight feet up is a Lavazaa clock. Time for me to go.
