A very nice, unusual place. The chairs are all different, often with ripped upholstery. The small, square tables are variously topped, here an all red one, there a nine-tiled top with seven blue squares and two yellows. I'm in a narrow part near one of the entrances, and the opposite wall is a large mirror. The wall next to me is covered with a primarily yellow and black collage of African images and names and other miscellaneous elements such as the strangely dressed, nearly life-sized man with an astonished expression and clown nose who seems to be looking down at my feet. ![]() Music is playing quietly. The espresso came with a small piece of dark chocolate, sugar cubes, and an undersized tumbler of water. Earlier this evening a friend and I drank glasses of beer and were told that we should pay for them at the bar. The table is very wobbly, but it really is a unique, very comfortable place. On the ceiling is painted a dark blue night sky, reminding me that it's time to go catch the last metro. |
