Either I'm going insane, or else there is some kind of omnipresent buzzing noise going on here somewhere in the background. I'm sure it has not been going on the entire time I have been here. A sudden bout of insanity is not out of the question either, of course.
The chairs are wooden with speckled purplish back and seat cushions. The ashtray is simple, black plastic, no writing on it at all. The coffee cup and saucer, in contrast, are completely white, and are also devoid of labels. The coffee came with a packet of sugar cubes.
Next to me is a "High Roller Casino" pinball game that no one has played since I've been here. It could be that the thing is turned off completely, but I can't see the front of it from where I'm sitting to know for sure.
My table is round, pinkish-topped with cherry wood sides. The room is big, open, high-ceilinged and comfortably lit. The sun is shining in on me a bit, in a good way. Outside there are people and cars everywhere and I can see metro trains passing by on elevated tracks.
Just outside the window to my left a man and his son are sitting on the sidewalk, boy in father's lap, father's back up against the window -- he holds his head down and a plastic cup out in front of him. I saw a young woman squat down to talk to him a little while ago, and after she left a man gave him a five euro bill and a cigarette and they shook hands.
Someone's cell phone went off in here a little while ago, and I can hear someone singing very faintly, almost imperceptibly, on the radio.
