The specialty here is bruschettas, and I'm on an eating-out roll so I ordered one with wild mushrooms on top. Not the bruschetta I know and love, but not bad either. This one was on a large slice of well-toasted garlic bread with just enough tomato sauce to leave a stain, but hardly worth mentioning. The cheese and mushrooms on top of that were good, though. More sauce and slightly softer bread would have been more satisfying, but I guess not everything can be pizza. The placemat is leather strips woven together into a rectangle. The tables here are small, square, wooden. I'm sitting on a black vinyl couch and across from me is a black metal chair with a black vinyl seat cushion. The woman at the tabac counter is completely hidden from view by display cases that leave only a narrow space in the middle for transactions. The glass cases contain an assortment of lighters, pens, gum, candy, breath mints, and the occasional souvenir. My espresso came with a pack of sugar cubes, though there are containers of powdered sugar tubes available at the bar for people who prefer that kind of thing. |
